Overview

Florida Woman Care, the largest OB/GYN group practice in the state of Florida, has a state-of-the-art CAP-accredited lab in the Tampa area with specialists in GYN and Cytopathology to produce the highest quality diagnoses of laboratory specimens. We currently have over 200 medical offices and over 600 OB/GYN Providers throughout the state of Florida. The lab currently performs interpretation of biopsies, digital GYN cytology, molecular microbiology and NIPT.

 

We are seeking a Clinical Pathologist or a Clinical Laboratory Technical Supervisor to oversee the on-going development of a core clinical laboratory department. It requires a thorough understanding of clinical laboratory medicine, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with the treating providers and laboratory staff. This position will include leadership and technical oversight of the core clinical laboratory operations as well as directing the department’s quality management program.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and interpret a wide range of laboratory tests, including hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and limited blood banking. Lead and actively participate in ongoing quality management of the department.
  • Review and interpretation of hematology slides.
  • Consult with OB/GYN providers concerning clinical testing results and answer other pertinent inquiries.
  • Work with related parties to define, monitor and improve quality, efficiency, and communication of laboratory services through the evaluation of methods, performance, and quality and by recommending and implementing changes.
  • Selection of the test methodology that is appropriate for the clinical use of the test results.
  • Select, design, and validate laboratory methods according to regulatory requirements.
  • Keep up to date with new clinical guidelines, testing, and products on the market.
  • Strong background in antibiotic stewardship
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • MD/DO with CP or AP/CP board certification or Doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or laboratory science with HHS-approved board certification 
  • State of Florida and Georgia licensure or eligibility for licensure
  • Expertise in hematology, immunology, clinical chemistry, Rh/ABO testing, and microbiology
  • Exceptional communication skills / professional presence with ability to lead and drive change
